Recipes for these varieties are included in the packet and also available in-store next to the bulk bins.

Wholemeal Bread Mix:
A "brown" loaf that is both delicious and nutritious, it is an excellent source of fibre. With the addition of a couple of ingredients this basic Wholemeal Bread Mix can be used to create some delicious varieties such as Fruit & Nut, Currant & Sultana and Triple Seed Bread. Recipes for these varieties are included in the packet and also available in-store next to the bulk bins. It is great for good hearty sandwiches or toast.

Sweet Bread Mix:
A sweet flavoured bread mix that is perfect for making fruit loaves and buns - it is a must for Easter Hot Cross Buns and Easter Spicy Loaf. With the addition of a couple of ingredients this basic Sweet Bread Mix can be used to create some delicious varieties such as Spicy Fruit & Nut, Mediterranean and Honey & Walnut. Recipes for these varieties are included in the packet and also available in-store next to the bulk bins.

Country Grain Bread Mix:
This traditional loaf has a malty flavour and crunchy multigrain texture. Seeds and grains not only provide a more interesting taste and texture, but they also add to the nutrtional value of the loaf. Country Grain along with 8 Grain Bread Mix are Bin Inn's most popular grain varieties of bread mix.

Crusty White Bread Mix:
As its name suggests, this white loaf has crunchy crisp crust. Its crunchy crust makes it ideal for bread rolls and buns. Crusty White Bread with a generous spread of butter and their favourite topping is always a favourite with the kids.

Focaccia Bread Mix:
This Italian style bread is soft in texture and has a Mediterranean flavour. The aroma of this freshly baked bread is devine! We recommend serving Focaccia Bread while it is still warm, it delicious on its own as a snack or served with a meal. Once it has cooled, try brushing thick slices with olive oil and then grilling them.

Pumpernickel Bread Mix:
This continental style dark brown bread has a full rye European flavour. Full of flavour, heavy and dense, this bread is great for open sandwiches. A suggestion for a wholesome brunch is to lightly toast Pumpernickel bread and then top with scrambled eggs, tomato and cheese. For best results we recommend using a "Wholewheat" setting - refer to your breadmaker instructional manual.

Soy & Linseed Bread Mix:
This multigrain loaf is lightly textured with soy and linseeds. This bread mix is ideal for those who prefer a light mix of grains as opposed to heavy multigrain loaves like Four Seed Bread. For best results we recommend using a "Wholewheat" setting - refer to your breadmaker instructional manual.

Light Rye Bread Mix:
This light brown European style loaf has a delicious soft rye texture and flavour. This bread mix is ideal for those who prefer light bread as opposed to a heavy multigrain loaf. Rye Bread originates from Germany and Scandinavia.

Four Seed Bread Mix:
This dark, heavy multigrain loaf is a delicious blend of linseed, sunflower, canola and sesame seeds. This loaf makes a great change from traditional white bread. As this is a heavy dense loaf it is significantly smaller in volume than a traditional white loaf. For best results we recommend using a "Wholewheat" setting - refer to your breadmaker instructional manual.

Dark Rye Sourdough Bread Mix:
This rich dark brown loaf is a European style bread that has a crisp crust. Rye Bread originates from Germany and Scandinavia. The wonderfully rich dark colour of Dark Rye Sourdough Bread makes it great for serving as an open sandwich.

Breadmaker Directions
Important: Always refer to your breadmaker instruction manual before using your breadmaker.

1. Select the loaf size suitable for your breadmaker.
2. Carefully measure ingredients, level cup & teaspoon measurements with the back of a knife. For best results we recommend weighing dry ingredients, the cup measurements provided are a guide only. Use a measuring jug for water. Use luke warm water.
3.Place ingredients into the bread pan according to the order specified in your breadmaker instruction manual. We recommend adding the water first, then dry ingredients and finally yeast. The order for adding ingredients varies depending on breadmaker models. The order in which ingredients are added is particularly important for the delay timer setting.
4. Insert bread pan and select appropriate setting.

Breadmaking Handy Hints
Measuring Ingredients
The key and most important step when using your breadmaker is measuring ingredients precisely and accurately. Whilst the gram measurements have been converted into metric cups for each recipe, these cup measurements are a guide only. We recommend using metric kitchen scales. If you do not have scales, use metric measuring cups and spoons, do not use tableware cups and spoons. Do not pack down the ingredients into the measuring cup, simply spoon the ingredients into the cup, filling slightly over the top, and then level with the back of a knife. To measure liquids, place the measuring jug on a flat surface and read the measurement at eye level.

Timer Delay
The timer delay feature should not be used for perishable goods such as milk, eggs, cheese or butter. The timer delay feature is not suitable where fruits and nuts need to be added at a later time (unless your breadmaker has an automatic fruit & nut dispenser).

Removing Bread
Remove the bread pan as soon as it is ready as otherwise condensation may form and leave the loaf damp and soggy. If the bread is difficult to remove from the bread pan, shake the pan or loosen the loaf using a rubber spatula. Never use metal as this may scratch the non-stick coating on the bread pan.

Easy Slicing
Once the bread has been removed from the bread pan it is best to let it to cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes. This helps the bread slice easier. Very moist loaves slice better when they have been left to completely cool. An electric knife is an easy way to cut the bread into straight, even slices. Plastic slicing guides are also available from most department stores. Before slicing, always check that the kneading blade is not in the bottom of the loaf as it is common for a crust to form around the kneading blade and get stuck in the loaf.

Storing Bread
Store in paper bags, self sealing plastic bags or plastic containers in the cupboard for up to 3 days. Do not place the bread in a paper or plastic bag until it has completely cooled - otherwise the bread may 'sweat'. If the weather is hot and humid, store bread in the refrigerator. Leftover bread that is slightly hardened can be cut into 1cm cubes and used as croutons in soups and salads.

Freezing Bread
Make sure that the fresh bread has completely cooled before putting it in a plastic bag to place in the freezer. Remove as much air as possible from the bag before sealing. It is handy to slice the bread before freezing it, then it can be thawed as needed. Bread may be frozen for up to 1 month. It is a good idea to label the bread so you can easily see what variety it is and the date that it was baked.

Yeast
When it comes to making that perfect loaf of fresh bread, yeast is the number one ingredient to get right. Essentially, without yeast your bread will not rise. Once the yeast has been moistened by a liquid, fed by sugar and warmed, yeast produces gases (carbon dioxide) which make the dough rise.

All of the Breadmaking Made Easy Breadmixes have been formulated for using with Active Dried Yeast. However, SupaBake Active Yeast Blend can be used as a substitute. When using SupaBake Active Yeast Blend instead of Active Dried Yeast it is important to add one extra teaspoon of SupaBake Active Yeast Blend for every 2 teaspoons of Active Dried Yeast. For a 750g loaf, use either 2 teaspoons (8g) of Active Dried Yeast or 3 teaspoons (10g) of SupaBake Active Yeast Blend. For a 500g loaf use either 11/2 teaspoons (6g) of Active Dried Yeast or 2 teaspoons (7g) of SupaBake Active Yeast Blend.

  • Store yeast in an airtight container in the refrigerator. This is particularly important when the weather is hot and humid.
  • Always check the use by date as yeast is a living organism and has a limited shelf life. Stale yeast will prevent the bread from rising. Active Dried Yeast Sachets tend to have a longer shelf life as they are foiled sealed.
  • Refer to your breadmaker instruction manual for the order that yeast should be added. When using the delay timer setting we recommend that liquids are added first, then dry ingredients and lastly yeast.
  • DO NOT use fresh or compressed yeast in your breadmaker.
  • DO NOT dissolve yeast in warm water before use.

Active Dried Yeast
Active Dried Yeast is available from selected Bin Inn stores in a 250g jar and you can also scoop your own from Bin Inn's self selection bin. Active Dried Yeast is ideal for baking gluten free bread.

SupaBake Active Yeast Blend is available from Bin Inn stores in a 250g jar and from Bin Inn's self selection bin. Please note: SupaBake Active Yeast Blend is not suitable for gluten free bread.
